PAULINHO LÊMOS

Paulinho Lêmos is a Brazilian singer, guitarist, and songwriter whose professional career began at an early age. He started playing guitar at eight and by the age of ten was already composing his own songs—one of which, “Vanda,” was selected at the 3rd Popular Music Festival of Mato Grosso. In 1970, he moved to Rio de Janeiro to continue his musical education at the Villa-Lobos School of Music and the Music Conservatory, where he collaborated with important names in Brazilian Popular Music such as Beth Carvalho, Fátima Guedes, and Raphael Rabello.
Since 1988, Paulinho has been based in Portugal, where he co-founded the group Camaleão and became a prominent figure in the jazz and Brazilian music scenes of Europe. He has performed at renowned venues and festivals such as the Hot Club of Portugal and the Funchal Jazz Festival, touring extensively across Germany, France, Spain, and Austria. His discography includes at least six solo albums that combine traditional samba, bossa nova, and samba-canção, often featuring renowned musicians like Carlinhos Sete Cordas, Marcos Suzano, and Nelson Faria. His work is marked by melodic elegance, poetic depth, and a deep commitment to Brazil’s rich musical heritage, making him a key ambassador of Brazilian roots music in Europe.
