JURANDIR DÃ SILVA

Jurandir Dã Silva is a guitarist, composer, and music producer known for his distinctive percussive guitar technique. Raised in the Liberdade neighborhood and immersed in Afro-Bahian rhythms and samba, he began studying guitar at the age of 12, learning songs by Brazilian icons such as Chico Buarque and Tom Jobim. As a young man, he performed in frevo and MPB groups in Salvador and later discovered jazz, joining bands like Agape and developing a style rooted in the city’s emerging instrumental scene.
At 22, he began a professional career that led him to collaborate with major names such as Nico Assumpção, Artur Maia, and Mariene de Castro, whose band he musically directed starting in 2006. In 2013, he moved to Barcelona, where he has continued to evolve artistically, blending Brazilian tradition with jazz and global influences. In 2023, he adopted the artistic surname Dã Silva and is currently touring with Malian singer Fatoumata Diawara as part of her “London Ko” tour. Jurandir continues to be recognized for his elegance, technical versatility, and emotional expressiveness.
