THAÏS MORELL
5/10/2024 – 20:00h. Exconvento de Santo Domingo, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, Tenerife. (Free admission until full capacity is reached)
It would be unoriginal to say that Thaïs can be considered a citizen of the world. However, perhaps this is the best way to define this Brazilian, originally from the beautiful Curitiba, who has crossed the planet from north to south and from east to west, both offering her art and knowledge, as well as trying to soak up a variety of cultures that, yes, have in common the sweet heritage: she lived in Finland and Ghana, until she settled in Valencia for 7 years. She returned to Brazil in 2016 with a wealth of cultural and musical experiences and many kilometres travelled in concerts and workshops in more than 40 cities in Spain, Brazil, France, Italy, Uruguay, Uruguay, Finland, Ghana, Estonia, Belgium, Holland and England.
Thaïs Morell belongs to that new generation of Brazilian musicians with extensive training, able to enter naturally into any musical style they choose. With an impressive live performance, at the same time intense and delicate, she mixes bossa-nova with a diversity of other music, conquering the most varied audiences. She stands out for the way she plays the guitar, and she plays with ease the roles of singer, guitarist and composer in her quintet, also formed by Ales Cesarini (double bass), Mariano Steimberg (drums/percussion), Alberto Palau (piano) and Latino Blanco (flute/sax), musicians of the highest quality on the Valencian jazz scene.
