Filo Machado
Filó Machado is a singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, arranger and producer. With a career spanning more than 60 years, 13 albums recorded, an award for Best Author/Composer at the Professional Music Awards 2017 and a Latin Grammy nomination for Jazz, he has earned the well-deserved title of “master of music”. Between albums and stages, he has worked with names such as: Michel Legrand, Jon Hendricks, Silvain Luc, Dory Caymmi, Gal Costa, João Donato, Raul de Souza, Kenny Barron, Joyce Moreno, Arismar do Espírito Santo, Leny Andrade, Os Cariocas, Tetsuo Sakurai, Hermeto Paschoal, Andreas Oberg, John Patitucci, Cesar Camargo Mariano, Djavan, Jorge Vercillo, Rosas Passos, SWR Big Band Stuttgard, Warvey Waynapel and others.
He performed in theatres and festivals (between 2000 and 2019): Teatre de Bercy (Paris) Carnegie Hall (New York), Massey Hall (Toronto), Motion Club (Yokohama), Java Jazz Festival (Jackarta), Teatre Flagey (Brussels), Teatro Nacional Sucre (Quito), Kiev Theatre (Kiev), D’izzys Club Coca-Cola (New York), The Triple Door (Seattle), Pescara Jazz (Canary Islands), Barquis imeto Jazz (Venezuela), Brazilian Day in Stolcom, HUA HIN Jazz Festival in Thailand, Toronto Jazz Festival (Canada) and, in Brazil: Lençóis Jazz & Blues, Choro Jazz, Ibitipoca Jazz, POA Jazz Festival, Santos Jazz, Natal Fest Bossa & Jazz), Fundinho Jazz Festival, Nhundiaquara Jazz Festival, Brasil Summit, Curitiba Jazz Festival. He gave a workshop at Berklee College in Boston, Russia and Belarus. In 2020 and 2021 he carried out various activities: 40 years of the Sergio Cardoso Theatre, Filó Machado – 60 Years of Music from ProAC and the Aldir Blanc Law, Filó Machado Sextet from ProAC and #culturaemcasa, performances at SESI SP units and some festivals: Quintal da Musica, Transforma Festival, Clube da Bossa Nova, SP Choro en Jazz Festival, among others. In 2022, he continued to celebrate the 60th anniversary of his career with concerts at the FIESP Cultural Centre – 468 years of São Paulo, CEU units and festivals (Vinho Bento Jazz Festival, Tapa Jazz, Lençóis Choro Jazz), as well as a tour of Norway and Stokolm Brazilian Day 2022. 32 as a guest of the Brasil Jazz Sinfônica, celebrating six decades of music.
